First time ever - started crocheting a blanket in 2013? (too long ago to remember). Stashed it away for many years until I busted it back out during covid. I started to get it and I started to learn the rhythm of it - but only that stitch pattern. I had a lot to learn and I was r e a l l y getting into it!
I guess there is a meaning behind the designs
SHELLS
Hermie, Hermet, Twister & Sandy Four-Bucks were my hermit crabs that I purchased as a kid on the wooden pier on Virginia Beach. I loved them and I loved finding their homes; their shells. As mesmerizing and fascinating shells are, I became more obsessive with the history of cowrie shells when I went bananas (still am) collecting vintage cowrie shell hanging planters *9 and counting*. Did you know cowrie shells were used as currency? Wild. Did you know the tiny holes in cowrie shells is when an octopus tries to eat it? Also wild. Then when I went bananas collecting conch shells and making them into planters - also an obsession *8 and counting*.
Don't even get me started on oyster and clam shells - I live in Maine and those bad boys are e v e r y w h e r e.
Anyways, I'm into shells and you'll see them :)

MAINE HABITAT
As cliche as it is - but it's my home!
Blueberries, lobster, loons, puffins, lakes, pine trees, pinecones, chickadees, saltwater taffy, seaweed, sap, buoys, whoopie pies...
THE TROPICS
It was in middle school when I asked my 'boyfriend' to bring me back a clipping of a palm tree because I never had seen one and I was in awe by their existence. He brought me one back and it was hung up in my room for many years until I got to go to - Florida. Fell in love. Still am. With the palm trees. They're so f*ckin' cool.
Jamaica, Aruba, Costa Rica, Belize, Puerto Rico, St. John, Bahamas, Mexico, the keys - I have traveled there for the tropics. The smell of jerk chicken, mixed sounds of waves and reggae/ton in the air, juicy tropical fruits hanging on bright colorful roadside stands, sun peeping through palm fronds with eye piecing turquoise/cyan ocean water - damn.
